Course Descriptions
Module 1: Acute Care and Clinical Reasoning: Topics Include Sideline Assessment and Management to include Cervical Spine Stabilization, on and off field Concussion Assessment and Management, Assessment of upper and lower quarter acute injuries and management to include bracing, splinting and basic taping strategies. Clinical reasoning strategies and a systematic approach to evaluation and treatment will also be covered.
Module 2: Spine: Topics include posture, gait, movement assessment, assessment and treatment of cervical, thoracic, lumbar, pelvic girdle for the athletic population as well as screening for pelvic floor dysfunction in the athletic population.
Module 3: Lower Quarter: Hip, Knee, Ankle and Foot Evaluation and Treatment with emphasis on movement analysis and breakdown of common injuries in a variety of sports.
Module 4: Upper Quarter: Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist and Hand Evaluation and Treatment with emphasis on movement analysis and breakdown of common injuries in a variety of sports
Module 5: Return to Play of high level athletes with consideration of interval progression, functional testing of the upper and lower quarter and surgical interventions. Also includes radiology and pharmacological considerations.
Module 6: Special Considerations of the athletic population: Topics include Sports nutrition, Strength and Conditioning Principles, non musculoskeletal considerations, and youth and female athlete considerations.
